CIAS Events Winter/ Spring 2018

Below our outings for the Winter/ Spring season 2018.

Thursday 15 February 2018: Trinity College

6:00pm Lecture by Sean Rainbird, Director of the National Gallery of Ireland entitled - ‘The National Gallery of Ireland: bedding down, making waves, moving forwards, where do we go from here’.
The lecture will be preceded by Commons, with a glass of Cellar wine in the 18th Century Dining Hall in Front Square. Attendees should assemble in the vestibule of the Dining Hall at 6pm.
Remittance of €40 (incl. CIAS admin fee) per person and made out to CIAS to include lecture and Commons should be sent to Mary Tuohy, CIAS Chairwoman, 79 Booterstown Avenue, Booterstown, Co. Dublin, before 24 January 2018.



Saturday 3 March 2018: AIB Bankcentre Ballsbridge

10:00am Guided Tour of the AIB Art Collection, preceded by coffee hosted by AIB in-house administrator Maureen Porteous and a video presentation.
Meet at reception, AIB Bankcentre, Merrion Road, Ballsbridge.



Wednesday 18 April 2018: UCD Belfield Heritage and Sculpture Tour

2:00pm Guided tour of a selection of the Art and Heritage of the UCD Belfield Campus, defocusing on the UCD Sculpture Trail.
Meet outside the Main Restaurant in the centre of the Campus. Please note that this is an outdoor event.


Tuesday 22 May 2018: UAC AGM and Annual Dinner

6:30pm   AGM
7:30pm   Artist’s Talk (Guest speaker TBA)
8:15pm   Dinner incl. wine €40 per person



Friday 25-Sunday 27 May 2018: Achill Island

A 2 night/ 3 day trip to Achill island. This trip will feature visits to artist’s studios and galleries and visits to scenic areas on Achill.

Depart Dublin Heuston    Fri 25 May 12:45pm
Return from Westport      Sun 27 May 1:20pm or 5:45pm

Price €200 per person to include: 

  • Transport Westport to Achill and return
  • Transport around Achill
  • 2 nights B&B accommodation
  • 1 dinner with wine on Saturday night

Deposit of €50 per person required. Priority will be given to member on waiting for 2017 trip. 



Tuesday 4 - Friday 7 September 2018: Cornwall

The CIAS trip to Cornwall is now confirmed. Visits are planned to the Tate St. Ives, Barbara Hepworth Museum, Chapel of St. Nicholas, Penlee House and other attractions.

Members will be responsible for booking their own flights and accommodation. Admission to cultural venues and travel to and from Newquay Airport to St. Ives will be organised by the society and a fee, yet to be decided will be charged.
